Well this is a long overdue update post. April Hendrick Photography is moving to Amarillo! It is pretty exciting for us! When we got out of the Navy 2 years ago, we wanted to get close to home. At the time, we could only get as close as Lubbock, tx, which turned out to be a real blessing. Living in Lubbock introduced me to the local professional photographers guild and through them I have bettered my skills, learned so much more about the business behind photography and made some really great friends in the business.
Moving to Amarillo is going to be so great too. We have family all around Amarillo, which really means we have free baby sitters! LOL We are never going to miss another family gathering and we finally get to grow some roots. After 12 years of floating around like a butterfly we are in the process of buying what we hope to be our forever home. It’s going to be such a great home! Aiden will start Kindergarten at a wonderful school this fall and Tyler will have all of Mommas attention from 8-5 at least. Anyway I am excited.
So how does it all effect the photography end of it all? Glad you asked. I still plan on doing weddings in Lubbock. However, I don’t plan on taking any more portrait clients. I do plan on expanding to cities like Dumas, Canyon, Hereford and anywhere else within a 2 hour radius of Amarillo. So if you get a chance to plug April Hendrick Photography, it would be much appreciated! I need all the help I can get to spread the word that there’s a new photographer in town!
Also please note my New local number. 806-674-2693 Lubbock callers must dial the 806 area code.

I had the wonderful chance to attend the Texas School of Photography thanks to a scholarship from my local photography guild. I know, I am a lucky girl! If you aren’t a member of a local photography guild and you are or want to be a professional photographer, I can’t stress enough how beneficial it will be to your career. These people really help and become a backbone to your career. I can’t think of any other place you can go once a month and learn about photography for only $50 a year. Plus if your in a pinch, you got people.
Texas School was in Dallas this year and well it totally rocked! Don Dixon and his crew really work hard to bring us the works all served on a silver platter with a cherry on top! My instructor this year was Greg Daniels and his wife Lisa. What a awesome team they are. They showed us lots of little ways to tweak our work to make it even more amazing and how to wait for those “spaghetti moments” where the magic happens. (see Lady and the Tramp)
Here are some of my favorite photos from the class and the shoot out and a couple behind the scenes pictures, just cause I think they are fun to see.

What a fun session we had with Carlyn & David. Here are My favorites! We did these pictures at the Lubbock Art & Gardens center. This was the location of their 2nd date.
