Swirly Tree – House Project

I had an idea to paint a really cool looking tree on this long wall in the living room.  I’ve sat and stared at the wall since we moved in.  I originally wanted a very large wall Canvas wrap collection to put on it but seeing how it’s a year and a half later,  we still have no family portraits…..I know I know,  I should just set up a tripod and do them myself but ya know,  it just doesn’t work out….maybe that can be another blog post of the funny FAIL pictures…..but another time.

So back to the Tree.  I found this lovely tree when i did a google search.  She had this great blog on how she did it,  You can read her blog here. I emailed her and asked if I could use her tree as the base for my tree,  Seriously,  her blog post inspired me to do my own and I thank her for that!  She was such an inspiration (and Nice!)  I changed  mine up a bit, using my tiny amount of free hand skills and extending the branch and projecting a couple hidden birds….. and Voila!

It took us (2 people)  about 3 hours to do.  We just went for it,  projected the image onto the wall and painted the projected image in.  No tracing.  It worked out pretty well and was so stinking easy,  I was surprised!   The key,  I must confess was the 90′s pep rally music I had keyed into Pandora.  Just Type in Joan Jet’s I love rock and roll and you are on your way Baby!

I really wanted more of a monotone abstract type of tree.  Last year, I painted my white brick fireplace in a nice tone of greys and we also put in a pretty little new tile floor with yellows and golds,   and I have one lone deep read chair in the living room so that is how I picked out my 3 colors….In case you were wondering!

Disclamer:  Ok These were taken with my Iphone.  Don’t just the super Non-Awesome lighting!

The Above is the Before picture of our fireplace.  The previous owner had painted the whole thing white.  Last year,  I dry brushed the grey tones on it to bring it back to life and try to make it look like brick again.   Then we were having so much fun with the tree we decided to bring it into that wall too.

Blog slacker

Yep,  it’s another blog slacker make up post.  If you follow me on facebook you get to see the up and coming images.  Honestly,  I get more feedback on facebook and I’m not certain that anyone still reads this ol blog.  Maybe it’s time to retire it and put my efforts into social media!

Anyway how about some recent pictures!  Here are a couple from a Great horse named Duke and his best Gal.  Duke has moved on to greener pastures now and I am so glad we got some awesome pictures with him before he left.

Plus Some of a recent Newborn session.  Who doesn’t love sweet newborn portraits.  Such a doll!

Amarillo Bridal Portraits – Brigitte

It’s always so hard to keep bridal portraits from the internet.  Often those are my favorite part of the wedding coverage I offer.  Having a separate session for the Bridal portraits gives us time to play and be creative and just have some fun.  Something the wedding day simply can’t offer us.

So now that I’ve posted the wedding,  I can post some of my favorites from Brigittes Bridal Session.   These were taken out at the Uncommon Twists Garden Center,  which Is my new favorite place.  I wish I could move it into my backyard!

Amarillo Wedding Photographer – Brigitte & Brad

What a cool wedding these two had!  Brigitte & Brad have dated for many years,  it sounded like their wedding day was long awaited by many.  Indeed it was a well celebrated event!  The reception was held at the BarZ Winery in Canyon Tx.  Located on the rim of the canyon and made for a perfect backdrop for some wedding day portraits.

Here are a few of my favs.

Amarillo Newborn portraits

Once you become a parent, it becomes a sound that you will never forget.  That sound still makes you a little tense and you know that it won’t be long until that sound changes.  That sound of a newborn crying soon evolves into a much different sound of an infant crying.   Even though my baby is 4 years old,  I still know his cries….a mother knows when she needs to stroll to kiss a small hurt or run because something is deathly wrong.  A mother knows.

The sounds of these wonderful newborns brought back lots of happy and stressful memories.    Stressful because I wanted to do everything perfectly.  Stressful because I always thought that NO one wanted to have to hear my baby crying.    Stressful because I didn’t want to hear my baby crying while stuck in traffic…stuck in a car with this screaming child!    Beautiful because that is the sound of new life.  What a wonderful sound.

Take a moment from all the stressfulls of being a new mother or mother to a new child and really enjoy,  photograph and take in all that God has helped to create in your family.

Here are my favorites from my most recent Newborn Sessions.
